MOTHER NATURE SHORTENS COLUMBIA RACE CARD

(Lake City, FL; 8/6/2000) John Mitchell didn't let rain dampen his evening Saturday as he led early then late to claim his first ever Florida Modified feature event at Columbia Motorsports Park.

Mitchell led to lap 11 of the 20-lap main before Brother Simmons took command for a pair of laps only to be dispatched by Richard Ferry. Ferry appeared on his way to another win when the clutch in his open-wheeler failed and Mitchell took the lead again, this time for good, to record a popular victory.

The visiting Classic Race Cars feature was stopped due to rain after 14 laps with Ed Yates declared the winner. Late Model Stock, Street Stock, and Pure Stock features were all rained out and will be added to the card this coming Saturday, August 12th.
