CRAWFORD SEIZES TWO FEATURES AT COLUMBIA

(Lake City, FL; 7/28/2000) It should have been John Crawford night at Columbia Motorsports Park Saturday night as he won both the Late Model Stock and Florida Modified features on the same card for the second time this season.

In the Late Model Stock run, Al Beckleheimer, Jr. set the pace for the first four laps before Crawford powered to the lead and eventual win; his 12th here this season. Beckleheimer was runner-up over Roy Crain, Jay Middleton, and Michael Haigh in the 25-lapper.

For the Open-Wheel 20-lapper, John Mitchell paced the first trio of laps before Crawford got to him and drove away into the night for the victory. Richard Ferry, Shannon Smith, and Rick McManaway trailed at the line.

After running well for several weeks, Nick Reid finally put it all together and won the 20-lap Street Stock finale. Gale Grayer paced the initial eight circuits on the half-mile oval but could not hold off the charging Reid. Ray Wheeler finished a close second ahead of Randall Jackson, point leader Charles Seroki, and visitor Jason Garver.

Danny Coleman proved to be the man with the plan in the pure stocks as he quickly snatched the lead from Robert Young, then sped to the victory ahead of point leader William Jerkins, John McNeal, Skipper Powell, and Tony Browning in the 15-lap event.
