Tanner Back on Top in Late Model Action

(Gibsonton, FL; 7/12/2000) Multi-time Late Model champion and current season points leader, Donnie Tanner, easily outran the competition Saturday, July 8, enroute to win number three of the season. Tanner piloted his potent #88 to victory over Roger Crouse (#32), Keith Nosbisch (#02), Bill Howard (#47), and Larry Vires (#01).

In Sprints, it was Greg Leonard and the Mulligan Motorsports #3 team in victory lane for win number 11. Leonard took the win over fast-closing Casey Johnson in the #31 car. Brady Alvis (#22), 'Bubba the Love Sponge' (#98), and Johnny Gilbertson (#8M) rounded out the top five. Heats went to Leonard and Bob Auld (#83).

Jeff Matthews (#33) took the Limited Late Model main over Tim Gay (#35), Roger Crouse (#15), Don Gansner (#0G), and Bruce Watkins (#B12). Heats went to Gansner, Gay, and Crouse.

Scott Howard (#47) took the Mini-Stock main over William Hampton (#29), Scotty Williams (#27), Devin Dixon (#2), and Dorsey Strickland (#7jr). William Hampton, Thomas Hampton (#00), and Scott Howard brought home heat wins.

Raymond Rodgers piloted his Slusmeyer/Bargo/Jarret Bodiford #99 Street Stock to win number seven over Terry Bronson (#23), Danny McCall (#22), Timmy Bronson (#89), and Danny Paris (#09). Heats went to Rodgers, McCall, Bruce Ponti (#84), and Chuck Rock (#5) with John Boarders in the #08 car winning the 'Consi.'

Tim George in his #1 Venice Wrecker Limited Sprint dove to the inside on the final turn to take the win away from Gene Lasker (#02). Donnie Maxwell (#5), Andy Kelley (#11), and David Kelley (#12) rounded out the top five.

This Saturday, July 15, features the 25-lap, Mini-Stock "Mr. Budweiser" race. This is a non-points show, paying $2500 to win, with a draw for positions in heats.
