Swain Norris Claims First Win at Columbia

(Lake City, FL; 7/8/2000) Late Model Stock points leader John Crawford needed only four laps to gain the lead in Saturday night's 25-lap feature, and hustle to his ninth win this season at Columbia Motorsports Park.

Al Beckelheimer, Jr. was the early leader, but Crawford quickly put his #41 on the point and motored to yet another win. Beckelheimer claimed runner-up money over Doyle Boatwright, Lucien Gauthier, and Fain Skinner in his LMS debut.

It took Roger Webb 14 laps to gain the lead, but once in front he refused to budge and won the 20-lap Florida Modified feature. Greg Nordstrom, who led the middle portion of the event, claimed second money ahead of Crawford, Kelly Lawrence, and J.F. McClellan.

Swain Norris' steady improvement resulted in his first win here as he got past Nick Reid on lap 12 for the top spot and never looked back to win the Street Stock finale. Ray Wheeler chased Norris to the stripe ahead of Randall Jackson, Joey Faulkner and early leader Brad Fiene.

Robert Bradow got by William Jerkins on lap nine and won the 15-lap Pure Stock run. Jerkins kept hustling for second over Pam McRae, Danny Coleman, and Nevin Gainey.
