Chalo DeCastro Wins in Hialeah Street Stocks | HIALEAH, Fla. - Street stock point leader Chalo DeCastro never led a single lap but came away with a win in the 25 lap feature event Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.
Ron Wilson paced all except the opening lap but could not get his Chevy past post-race inspection so DeCastro, winless this season, was credited with his first victory of the year. Rick Lutz had his best run of the season to claim runner-up money over Bart Collins, Craig Seewald and Gary Potter.
David Russell dominated the mini stock 25 lap event for his fifth win this season, the most of any driver at the track. Scott Rogers gave chase up came up short at the checkers with Buddy Sizemore, Troy Howell and Brian Sweeny rounding out the top five finishers.
Cyclone action saw Rick Lenhardt shake his bad luck skein and romp to an easy win in the 25 lap run. Breaking out of traffic early, Lenhardt outdistanced Gabe Hernandez, Tony Crowder, Heather Lunsford and Lynn Reid for the victory, his first this season.
Jason Woelbing scored a very controversial win in the 25 lap main for the visiting Outlaw Modifieds. A spin by leader Neil Honerkamp put Woelbing, running second at the time, up front and he never looked back in taking the win over Larry Brown and points leader Randy Sands.
Andre Gagnon led wire to wire for the win in the Dwarf Car main ahead of George Landis and Alain Pardis while Mike Harrison proved to be the best of the Mini Cup cars over early leader Dan Catton and Tom North.
