Saturday nights double points, extra laps, and extra cash made it some of the best racing of the season. Keith Nosbish took home the top money in the Late Models as he pulled a last lap pass of Donnie Tanner by two feet. As the late models lined up for the thirty lap feature and Bobby Alexander on the front row the question was did he have what it took lead every lap in his white and red #15?
As the green fell Alexander jumped out front and began to pull away from the entire field. On a caution on lap 12 something happen to the 15 and he went to the pits and didn't return has the lead then fell on Rodger Crouse in the 32 car. Crouse pulling double duty was hoping to pull that first win and pocket that those dollars in his pocket but he had eighteen laps and with Tanner and Jack Jr and Keith Nosbish in his rear view mirror he knew it was going to be tuff. On lap 14 Crouse gave it up to the old pro, Donnie Tanner in the red #88 who seemed to be on his way. Tanner didn't seem to have the fastest car but as he used traffic to his advantage going high and low use them as a pick to keep the Nosbish brothers abbey.
As the laps were winding down yellow flew again with just a couple circuits remaining. On the restart Tanner took off and maybe a little too fast as he locked it up to keep from hitting the turn one wall. As he recovered and maintained the lead Nosbish went low and Tanner high as they came to the flag it Nosbish by two feet. Keith noted the tuff race and thanked his crew and sponsors Art's bail bonds, and Adams Used Auto Parts.
The Limited Late Models had a full field of cars with more than thirty cars showing up for the running of the extra green. With three heats and a B main already in the books there was no doubt that feature was going to be tuff and a family affair. On the front row were Tim Gay in the A&W Maintained sponsored car and his brother Terry Gay in the Temple Terrace Lounge car. As it turned out there was a home breaker in Rodger Crouse. As Course started in the middle of the pack the Blue Ribbon Tomato white #15 was on a tear and as he made his way to the front of the pack and finding himself as the lead just after the halfway point. Crouse was not to be caught.
The Mini Stocks were full field to start the feature as the twenty four cars took the green it was tight racing and in the it was a said and done the 00 of Thomas Hampton. As some of the favorites got caught up in some mishaps on and the track and others having mechanical problems it was time a new face at the checker. Devon Dixon made sure Hampton worked for the victory in the BC Family number 2 and Art Gulvin rounding out the top three.
The Sprints were back in force as Bubba returned to saddle the 98 Rock sprinter but his night would be short as he was involved in a turn one crash with Frank Carlson. Bubba's team mate Gene Lasker jumped out to the lead but knew the pressure would be coming, and he was correct. Greg Leonard again chased down Lasker as he had built-up a straightaway lead. Within eight laps Leonard was there side by side with Lasker. The two raced side by side which had everyone standing but once again Leonard took the point. As he went by Lasker pressing harder lost it in turn four but doing some outstanding driving and doing a 360 and kept it going keeping the event green. As the feature continued and the return of Kenny Adams, Red Stauffer and Robbie Smith Leonard knew he had his work cut out for him. It wasn't to be as Leonard kept his streak alive by taking home another as Robbie Smith made an impressive showing in his 1A HMS sprinter and Kenny Adams picking third in the ABC Auto, Blue Ribbon Tomato 2A.
