Simmons, with veteran Dick Anderson as his pitside coach, quickly took the lead with Sloan second as they worked the half-mile oval in quick fashion. Bramlett meanwhile got to third by lap 21 and appeared to have something for Sloan but despite getting along side could not make the pass, his tires used up in the run fromt he back of the pack.
A yellow flag with 13 laps remaining, for a multi-truck tangle on the front straight, closed up the field but none of the front runners could advance they crossed the stripe in the same order. Legends graduate David Froleich was fourth and Steve Griffin rounded out the top five runners.

Clinton Keen jumped out to a quick lead in the 20 lap street stock headliner but his night came to a quick end on lap eight when he lost the engine and spun in his own fluid. At that point Ronnie Cook took the point in his No. 88 Camaro and ran to his first career win. Randall Jackson, Debbie Shepard, Don Davis and Charles Seroki were next to the checkers.
None of his fellow pure stock racers were up to the challenge and William Jerkins paced the 15 lap run from start to finish for the win in the feature. Danny Coleman, Robert Bradow, Jerry Fortner and Pam McRae trailed.
