Adams And Lasker Battle At East Bay | The track was heavy and hot for action. Other than a couple of light rain storms it was a great night for racing with a full house of fans.
Tonight's event on the one third mile clay oval was the great racing we have become acustomed to in the last couple of years. With an outstanding car count in all classes, B main were run in the Street Stock and Limited Late Model divisions. The car count continues to increase as do the money in all classes.
The Late Models were the class with the hottest action as on track as Bobby Alexander and Dick Rigby got together as Alexander was trying to lap him. Alexander appeared to be the class of the field as on two starts jumped out to a large lead. The first was washed out by a spin by his son Bobby Alexander Jr. The other was caused by another minor accident as well. After the wreck that took out Alexander, Ken Nosbisch was now the man in charge. As it appeared that Jack was well on his way his tire came apart on lap eleven. Next to take control was the crafty veteran Donnie Tanner. With the race staying green, lapped traffic looked like it was going to play a major factor; and it did. On lap twenty-four a group of slower cars and Ken Nosbisch and David Shamus breathing down on Tanner's back bumper, he went low and was trapped and Nosbish went high along with Schmauss, Tanner settled for third.
The limited late models had a full house. With a full count of twenty-four cars in the big race for the limited guys Roger Crouse showed why he has made the move to the late model division as he walked away with the victory. As Danny Bowman was running in the second position the question was " can he catch him?". Well the answer was no. We have come to look forward to the Crouse/Bowman battle it was Roger's night. Roger, your Grandfather is proud of the job you do on the track, he is missed.
As the Street Stock were doing the thing on the very stickie clay it was going to be a night for the youngsters.
Tonight was the night for them to make a quick $500 bucks for six laps with those honors going to Danny McCall, but the war wasn't over as promised by Raymond Rodgers with his flat tire. Well Raymond kept his promise and came back to win the feature event in the Street Stock. As Raymond took the mic to thank his help his happiness just bubbled over.
The Sprints had a great showing in the car count. The race was a good one with a couple of the "Old pro's" getting together for the crowd pleasers. It came down to Gene Lasker and Kenny Adams with Adams taking the win. With a restart Kenny Adams pulled up next to Lasker and let him know that he was there and didn't expect to stay behind him long, and he didn't. Adams went on to win the event handle as Lasker was dealing with a broke front wing. Lasker did make a surprise announcement that Bubba the Love Sponge would start diving one of his sprint cars. Things are getting better every week.
