National Late Model Sportsman At Columbia | LAKE CITY, Fla. - The dirt cars of the National Late Model Sportsman series invaded the paved high banks of Columbia Motorsports Park Saturday night with veteran Steve Lade claiming the win in the No Foolin' Around 50 lap feature.
Michael Lloyd was the pole sitter, with Lade on the outside of the front row as they brought the 21 car field down for the initial green flag. Lade got the jump and paced the first 10 circuits before Ivedent Lloyd went ahead to lap 43.
The caution flew for a lapped car that had spun off the outside of turn three. Ivedent Lloyd stumbled on the restart and Lade blasted back to the front and stayed out front to the checkers. Ivedent Lloyd was second over Lawton Minchew, Billy Godowns, and Jason Hilton. The second five consisted of Gene Ross, Lee Faulk, Gene Maine, Cecil Eunice and Bo Allen.
John Crawford proved the best of the Florida modified set as he took the lead at the halfway mark and sped to the win in the 20 lap main. Richard Ferry, early leader Mike Johnson, Wayne Parker and Josh Byrd chased Crawford to the stripe.
Clinton Keen started from the pole in the 20 lap street stock finale but this night belonged to veteran Debbie Shepard as she put her Ranch Burger No. 8 out front on lap five and was never headed for her first win of the season. Randall Jackson, Ronnie Cook, Don Davis and Gale Grayer were second through fifth respectively.
Pure stock action saw Robert Bradow rocket to the lead on lap four and run to the victory in the 15 lap event. William Jerkins, Danny Coleman, Greg Cook and Trish Berry followed at the line.Action continues every Saturday night on the big half-mile oval just off Otis Howell Road south of Lake City.
