March 11, 2000

SEASON OPENER AT ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD

After many months of no racing at Orlando SpeedWorld, the
track reopened on March 10. Many good and exciting events
are scheduled for Orlando Speedworld this year including the
TBARA Winged Sprints from Tampa. So hold on to your hats
and the edge of your seat, Orlando is ready to rumble. Also
Orlando Drag Strip has one of it's biggest weekends this
weekend with the Florida Nationals going on. This is the
prelude to the Gator Nationals next weekend in Gainesville,
Florida. So if you run short of round track racing, you can always
go to the drags this weekend as it is running Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday.

A number of new cars debuted this weekend at Orlando Speed-
World. Shelby Howard, our Indiana Modified driver, had his no.
40 Late Model at the track getting in practice. His Late Model
has the same paint scheme as the modified which makes it a
very nice looking car. Also, Mark Scherer of the #00 Super Stock
debuted his new #00 Sportsman, nice looking car. Orlando is
also trying to build up its Strictly Stock division so if you have a
Strictly Stock and would like to enjoy the thrills and spills of
stockcar racing, join in on Friday nights at Orlando SpeedWorld.

Since there were some new cars this weekend, some names may
be missing until next weekend when I can search them out for
their names. Otherwise, these were the following heat race winners.
