Charlie Bible outduels Steve Dielman In Hialeah LM Sportsman

HIALEAH, Fla. - Using a difficult outside fake move in the closing laps, Charlie Bible drove under leader Steve Dielmann on lap 22 and went on to win the 25-lap late model sportsman feature event Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.

Dielmann was doing his best to block Bible's every move but finally Bible used a common dirt track move by faking high and diving low for the pass and eventual win. Point leader Bob Regula held off Gary McGoron for second place money with Greg Kaouk and Rick Rogreo completing the top five finishers.

Curt Haywood became the first two-time feature winner of the season when he was awarded the victory in the 25-lap street stock finale. Juan Ruiz took the checkers first but his car failed post-race inspection for a tire violation and Haywood got the nod. Bubba Martone claimed second money ahead of Ray Guitroz, Steve Godlewski and Robert Goldsbury.

Absent for the first three weeks of the season, defending champion David Russell returned with a vengance to win the 25-lap mini stock main. Bill Miner and Steve Quick led until Russell went in front on lap eight and never looked back to checker ahead of Quick, Kenny Strong, point leader Ken Chaiser and Shawn Reiss.

John Bentley was the top runner over the large cyclone field as he blasted to the lead on lap seven and sped to his first win of the season in the 25 lapper. Mike Powers brought his Camaro home second over Charles Whitehouse, Gabe Hernandez and Bruce Moerlins.

The visiting Super Mini Cup runners fell to the charge of Mike Moxley he drove away from his challengers with ease. Phil Paganetto, Doug Capps, former champion Tom North and Paul Tyson were next to the stripe in the 25-lap run for the small cars.
