Charity Truckers 200 Weekend Draws Closer, Suffers Some Changes | C.A.R.S. Motorsports & Racer Marketing
Orlando FL. 12-11-2007 - With just a few days before the 2nd Annual Charity Truckers 200 presented by Biscayne Roofing, some changes have been made and being announced.
The first was announced last week that Nascar Craftsman Truck series driver David Starr had to cancel his appearance at this year event due to the recent change in teams and prior commitments with that team.
The other change that was effected with the insurance company for Fascar. They made effective immediately that no one under 14 could race on Fascar Tracks or on the Fascar Tours. This all happened just a week before the event. Fascar officials worked over the weekend and into late Monday to see if anything could be done in time for this event, but the answer was given and so the Kids State Championship race had to be canceled.
" I was sick all weekend, and all day Monday waiting for the final answer, knowing that I would have to call these families and tell them their kids could not race, it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in all honesty.
Mr. Cohen with Ramm Transport said this " It is like when your a kid waiting all year for Christmas, and a week before it they say we are canceling Christmas this year".
The young drivers were all very excited to race this event, but are now left disappointed. I will say that all the families, were class acts and donated the $50 entry to the family, keeping the reason we are all doing this in the forefront, the Helmick family. I want to thank them for how they handled it I know they are upset, but they did the right thing. That means a lot" stated Bristol.
The gates will open to the Pro-trucks Friday Morning at 10 a.m., the drivers will be allowed into the pits in the order the pre-entries were received. If you want to now the order, you can go to www.carsracermarketing.com under pre-entry list. They are in order there. Currently there are 34 paid pre-entered trucks. " I am very excited about the great group of trucks that we have entered and we know there are some more out there that are planning on coming but have not pre-entered, so we could have 40 trucks Friday" added Bristol.
Tech will be open from from 12-3 p.m. you must pass tech before practicing, practice will run from 2-5 on Friday. The gate will open for the other divisions at 11 a.m. and they will have a rotating practice from 5-6:30. Trucks must draw for qualifying order by 6 p.m. Strictly Stock must draw for positions for the 30 Lapper by 7 p.m. the divisions must furnish a lineup by 7 p.m.
--Advertisement-- A mandatory drivers meeting for all divisions will be held at 7 p.m. on the pit entrance in turn 3. While that drivers meeting is going on truck crews should be readying trucks to qualify. Qualifying will be at 7:30 p.m. with the top 20 being locked in and impounded for the night. Crews have a car cover available for this please. The remainder of the procedures etc. will be addressed at the event. The complete schedule is on the website and you will be able to get a copy at the pit office Friday morning.
We will have raffles both days, an auction Friday Night right after the races and the BBQ & Music. We will have drivers go through the stands both nights to collect for the family. Jim Higgenbotham will have his former Michael Waltrip DEI car there, selling tickets for a chance to win a ride along we will do two each night.
