Danny Martin Scores First TBARA Win | By Rick Anges
Bradenton, Fl. The TBARA Winged Sprints brought twenty-three of the high-powered machines into DeSoto Super Speedway for their third of seven trips to the "High-Banks" in 2007.
The field was broken up into three heat races to help decide the running order for the nights thirty lap feature event. Troy DeCaire, who was looking for his fourth feature win of the season, took the win in heat one. D.J. Hoelzle former Modified champ at DeSoto took the checkers in heat two with Tommy Nichols the winner in heat three.
Nichols started from the pole position with Hoelzle on the outside of the front row. DeCaire meanwhile came from the outside of row six having been the winner in the last race at Charlotte County.
Even though he is a rookie in the Sprints, Hoelzle showed his knowledge of DeSoto jumping out to the lead and looking like he would be the car to beat pulling out to almost a straightaway lead at one point.
Everyone's eyes were on DeCaire who came into the race second in points chase. Lap after lap the purple 68 machine made his way through traffic eventually closing in on the leader. But on lap twenty-seven while maneuvering through lapped traffic, DeCaire hooked bumpers with the 2006 rookie of the year Micheal Smith bringing out the yellow flag. DeCaire regrouped and finished in the seventh spot but left the race with the points lead by a mere 4 points.
Hoelzle restarted the race in the lead, but Danny Martin Jr. made his way into the second spot. On the drop of the green martin was able to make the pass on the backstretch but before the lap was completed Shane Butler and Larry J.Brazil spun wildly down into the infield calling for the field to go back to the previous lap for the restart.
This time Martin had a tougher time of it with three laps remaining. The crowd was on their feet as Martin finally made the move with the white flag flying to take the top spot, but a stuck throttle as he crossed the stripe for the checkers sent him slamming into the turn one wall. Martin was able to climb from his damaged machine and collect the win.
Hoelzle who had a tire going down took the second spot, third across the line was pole sitter Tommy Nichols, Dude Teate finished fourth and fifth was Stan Butler.

Q-Auto and Injury Attorneys OWM
Twenty-three cars rolled onto the speedway for qualifying for the Q-Auto and Attorneys Open Wheel Modified 50 lapper. John Sarppraicone Jr. took the fast time for the event beating out Robby McAuliffe, Bobby Baldwin, Bill Davis and Tate Pierce for the top five.
A six on the die put Sean McLaughlin and Tate Pierce on the front row. It was Pierce who jumped out to the early lead. McLaughlin put on the horsepower though and muscled his way by Pierce to take over the top spot.
Sarppraicone made his way through the field and eventually caught McLaughlin. The duo raced hard for several laps but made contact going into turn one sending both cars spinning. Sarppraicone made contact with the wall. He made several trips to the pits to make repairs on his ride, but his night ended with a thud as heavy contact was made with Ron Bassett on the front stretch wall late in the race.
An eleven-car pile up brought out the red flag late in the race. When the green came back out it was McLaughlin taking the win, Baldwin finished second, third went to Tate Pierce, fourth, Pat Nanney and fifth, Kyle Bookmiller.
