Jackie Nosbisch Claims Win in Dirt Late Models | By Jason Loughren
Another solid crowd at East Bay Raceway Park was on hand tonight to watch 108 cars take to the track for Easter weekend racing. The Easter Bunny made an appearance at intermission as over 30 teams parked on the front stretch and distributed candy to over 200 kids.
The Late Models continued their strong showing as 33 cars were on hand. With only 24 cars eligible to run the feature race three heat races were run along with the always-exciting consolation race. In the consolation race the top 3 cars advanced to the feature race. Five cars started the consolation race as Jeff Conyers won the ten-lap sprint to the checkered flag. Shan Smith and Jeff Mathews also advanced to the feature.
The first 12 laps of the feature were run caution free. Jackie Nosbisch moved his way to the lead from the 6th starting position and took the victory. His brother, Keith Nosbisch challenged for the lead after numerous restarts and came home in second place. Donnie Tanner ran near the front all night long and finished 3rd. Smith who started in the 23rd position was the mover of the night crossing the line in 4th place. Dorsey Strickland finished in 5th. Ryan Mitchell, Josh Peacock and KD Kelly won the heat races.
The Outlaw 4’s were first to take to the Clay By the Bay tonight as Alex Boerner took the feature win. Austin Gillman came home in second. Chad Rose, Micheal Gulvin and Jerry Bruce rounded out the top 5. Steve Miller and Cecil Martin won the heat races.
The Open Wheeled Modified’s saw 18 cars take the green flag for their feature race. Raymond Rogers went to victory lane after holding off Jeff Mathews who came home second. Dakota Stephens finished third. Scott Howard and Stephen Ramsey came home in the 4th and 5th positions respectively. Roger Crouse and Rogers took the checkered flag in the heat races.
It was another trip to victory lane for Charles Paris, Jr. as he took the win in the Street Stock class. This was his 4th feature win of the season and probably the most difficult. A flat tire early in the 15lap feature meant that he would have to go to the rear of the field. Paris, Jr. worked his way through traffic using the outside line passing Buck Skinner to take the lead with only a couple laps to go. Skinner finished 2nd. Donnie Reed, David Strickland and Dave Floyd completed the top 5. Steve Miller and Cecil Martin won the heat races.
In the 4 Cylinder bombers Collin Kruse cruised to his first victory of the season holding off the charge of Frank Miller and Kyle Eash. DB Hogwaller and Randy Tyler rounded out the top 5. Hugh Williams, Eash and Harp won the heat races.
East Bay Raceway Park resumes ASA-sanctioned racing next Saturday at 6:30pm with 5 classes taking to the track. 360 Sprints, Limited Sprints, Street Stocks, Outlaw 4’s and the 4 Cylinder bombers will take to the track. For more information visit www.eastbayracewaypark.com. Have an opinion on
