Bryan Silas Confident Going Into Lakeland Saturday | by Chris Knight
LAKELAND, Fla -- After months of preparation, the wait is finally over for ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie Bryan Silas. Lakeland is here, Lakeland is now. He’s ready to take the series by storm.
Silas, a native of Stuart, Florida is considering himself a sleeper in the Construct Corps-PBG 250, the second event on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule.
Several months of testing and a United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR) Hooter’s Pro Cup Series race under his belts, Silas strolls into the inaugural ARS (ARCA RE/MAX Series) event locked with experience and confidence giving him the momentum to possibly capture his first career top-10 finish on Saturday night.
Longtime Silas supporter Palm Beach Grading (PBG) is co-sponsoring the ARCA RE/MAX Series event with Construct Corps which may put additional pressure on any racecar driver. Nevertheless, for the relaxed and focused Silas, his routine remains the same.
“This race is very important to us,” said Bryan Silas. “Obviously there is a lot of exposure for us heading into this weekend’s race, which is great. However, we have to remain on top of our game and not let that become a distraction. We have to qualify well, race well and be in contention for the end. That’s exactly what we plan to do.”
He continued, “We’ve done a lot to get ready for this race, a lot. Our Fast Track Racing team has tested at USA International Speedway several times hoping to find the perfect setup for our No. 11 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. It’s all about getting experience and gathering seat time. I know the testing will pay off.”
Nortrax, Holland Pump and Palm Beach Grading (PBG) who all sponsored Silas’s USAR debut two weeks ago will jump to Silas’ ARCA entry.
“Our team has some great sponsors for this weekend’s race. We have a very cool looking car and I think we’ll be one of the major stories on Saturday. We had a good car for the USAR race but got entangled in someone else’s mess. We don’t plan on that happening again to us this weekend.”
Currently sitting 23rd in ARCA RE/MAX Series points, Silas hopes to climb the ladder this weekend with a good finish. “We had a good run going at Daytona until we cut a tire. We’re running the full ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, so running up front and getting points is crucial for us. I think the bad luck is gone and Lakeland is an opportunity for Fast Track Racing to be in the spotlight!”
Chad McCumbee will return as a teammate with Fast Track Racing and Bryan Silas driving the No. 62 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Heading into Lakeland, Silas has seven ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with a career best finish of 16th at Toledo Speedway (September 2006). He holds a career best short track time trials effort of eighth at Berlin Raceway (July 2006). A 16th place qualifying effort at Talladega Superspeedway (October 2006) is Silas’s best Superspeedway run to date.
When not competing or testing for FTR, Bryan competes in both the Sportsman and Limited Late Model divisions at Orlando Speedworld and New Smyrna Speedway. Have an opinion on
