Stolen Race Cars Recovered | KARNAC Staff Report
Two Indiana drivers have recovered their race cars stolen earlier thiis week from East Bay Raceway Park. Mike Sullivan, racing at East Bay and coming from Valparaiso Indiana, told KARNAC.com, "East Bay Raceway officials went above and beyond in helping us, and we really want to thank them for their great help." According to Sullivan, the Hillsborough Sherriff's Depatment used helicopters in the search.
The incident began for Sullivan and fellow racer from Indiana, Kenny Carlton, last Tuesday when the cars were taken between midnight and 6AM. Both cars were recovered along with one trailer late Thursday evening.
Sullivan said the people who took the cars were racers from East Bay Raceway Park. One driver said, according to Sullivan, that he just wanted to have a car that could win. According to Sullivan and others the offenders were in police custody Thursday evening.
Sullivan said he and his partner Carlton will be racing tomorrow night in the Open Wheel Modifieds, which features the top Modifieds from around the country for the East Bay Raceway Park Winternationals.
"We have never heard of this type of thing happening before," Sullivan said. The duo are still missing some tools and one trailer.
KARNAC.com will not release the names of the drivers until we have absolute confirmation from the Sheriff's department of their identities. Have an opinion on
