IT'S TIME TO RACE!!
January 6, 2007

Only Time and Hard Work will decide how History Writes the Future

by Bill Green, "From Behind The MIC"

(Jan.5th,2007) While no one is watching, Charlotte County Speedway has begun it's transformation into Charlotte County Motorsports ParThe locals know, but you the general public and southern race fans are very much unaware.

New CCMP owner Bobby Diehl has been called by many names over the years, but the once maligned school teacher and series owner is currently leading the biggest and most important renovation of southern racing ever undertaken. Charlotte County's gem of a location will shine brightly along the path Mr. Diehl and his current team has chosen.

From the start in early December, CCMP began as ideas for better access, better racer parking, earlier finishing shows, racer driven rules and better community involvement. Even the sceptics would admit at this point, one month later, Bobby Diehl is delivering the goods. Every inch of land under CCMP control is cleaner, neater and prepared for future expansion and growth.

That cleanup started in earnest on December 20th, 2006 when hundreds of local track loyalist descended upon Charlotte County Speedway and began the 2nd biggest clean up in track history. Giving credit for the hurricane Charley efforts, then owner Leroy Davidson managed in the months following that disaster. Bobby Diehl is quick to give praise to Leroy for his efforts then and his foresight now. "Leroy did not have to do what he did after Charley. He could have walked away, but he, his sister and the family didn't do that. They stayed. They worked and they brought it back. We are only trying to build a better Charlotte County Speedway as we undertake this new era as Charlotte County Motorsports Park!", Bobby stated by phone.

Few changes will be noticeable to the general public except the efforts to clean up the grounds around the facility. Some new fencing will be visible, a few new signs will be available for advertising at the track and most of the past employees will be in position when the track reopens. Subtle changes to the press and media will be noticed as Karnac.com, Short Track America and a CCMP sales team are added to insure better coverage of what's happening at Charlotte County Motorsports Park.

The general public is welcome to drive out to Charlotte County Motorsports Park anytime Monday through Friday for a look at the facility and progress made so far. Rome wasn't built in a day, neither will Charlotte County Motorsports Park be completed over night. But, through perseverance, the hard work of many and an eye on the future of south Florida motorsports, CCMP will be in the spotlight for years to come.

Your first opportunity to see the fantastic facility in action will be January 13th and 14th. CCMP will host the Brian Davidson Memorial 150 Late Model Challenge as a tribute to the past owners son that will continue as an annual event. But this year it will also serve as an opportunity for the local race fans to thank Leroy Davidson for efforts to ensure there is racing in southern Florida in the future by passing the track to someone whom may just be the one to lead them into a better future.

Only time and hard work will decide how history writes this future.
