PBR Star Tater Porter to be Grand Marshall for Clyde Hart Memorial July 3rd at New Smyrna Speedway | by Jane Smith
Samsula, Fla. (June 27, 2005) There is not much in the sporting world that compares to a racecar driver and the dangers he or she faces each time they strap into that car except for a Professional Bull Rider. Just like racing, professional bull riding is dangerous, full of uncertainties around every corner. With this in mind, Professional Bull Rider Tater Porter of Kenansville, Florida has been named the Grand Marshall for the 7th Annual Clyde Hart Memorial Sunbelt 125 at New Smyrna Speedway. Porter, who is ranked among the "Best of the Best" bull riders in the PBR circuit is no stranger to stockcar racing. Tater Porter is kin to no other than Leroy Porter, a legend in Florida stockcar racing. Leroy, who helps many drivers today, is very proud of his nephew and gladly shares the news whenever Tater rides that bull and makes it for 8 seconds. Tater will be signing autographs for the fans and will serve as the Grand Marshall for the event which is sponsored by NEW SMYRNA CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE CHEVROLET. Fans will also get to see some of these bulls up close as there will be LIVE bulls at the track.
Clyde Hart was well loved by fans and drivers alike and many of the "best" Super Late Model drivers in the state and across the South are expected to come and honor his memory this Sunday. Among them are Wayne Anderson, Jay Middleton, Chris Fontaine, Brian Finney, Rich Pratt, Barry Willoughby, Mike Fritts, Jeff Gordon from Georgia, Scotty Crockett just to name a few.
Plus the STARS of the Florida Mini Stock Challenge, the FASCAR Pro Trucks and Quick Kids will be on hand to add to the event. And if that is not enough, fireworks are in order.
Pit gates will open at noon on Sunday, July 3rd, with practice for all divisions from 1:30 to 4 pm. Grandstands open at 4:30 with qualifying set to go at 4:30 with the Sunbelt Super Series, Quick Kids, Pro Trucks and Florida Mini Stock Challenge. An on-track autograph session will be held for the fans at 6:30 pm with racing action at 7:30 p.m.
General admission is $15.00, $10.00 for students and seniors, children 11 and under are FREE. Bring your cameras, your autograph books, and be ready for a night under the stars with the best stockcar drivers in the state, Professional Bull Rider Tater Porter, and fireworks that light up New Smyrna Speedway.
