Make-A-Wish Foundation Sponsors Florida Mini Cup Driver
By Mark Blair
Florida Mini Cup driver Jerry Parker was only a teenager when his cousin was diagnosed with leukemia. Back then treatment options were limited and he remembers well the feelings of grief and despair that overcame the family.
But soon those feelings became ones of hope and encouragement when Make-A-Wish Foundation granted Teresa's wish for her and the family to go to Disneyland.
They had an incredible time and Teresa became a medical success story as months later doctors determined her cancer had gone into remission.
Now Jerry is campaigning for the organization that meant so much to his cousin and family. With Make-A-Wish Foundation on his car, hes able to raise awareness of the Foundation through Motorsports Marketing and share his story to those he comes in contact with. He's relishing this role, and feels hell be able to act as a racing ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Florida.
The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Children over the age of 2, and under the age of 18, must be referred to the Foundation and determined to be medically eligible for a wish by their physician. The child's treating physician makes the final determination of whether a child's medical condition qualifies him or her for a wish.
Make-A-Wish Foundation has chapters all across the United States and international affiliates in five continents. To find out more on how you can refer a child, volunteer for this worthwhile charity or donate to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, go to WWW.WISH.ORG.
