The 30-lap race will pay $750 to win.
The race will be part of a special Sunday afternoon program at CCS beginning at 2 p.m.
The Non-Winged Sprints come from the Fastsprint organization. The Wingers are from USA Sprints.
Charlotte County Speedway owner/promoter LeRoy Davidson, who has been involved with racing all of his life, says he has never heard of Winged and non-Winged Sprints running together before.
Fastsprint/Fastruck/Fastkids promoter Dennis Diehl came up with the idea of running the two types on sprints together.
I always thought about it, Diehl said. The Non-Wings are like USAC style. They think they wings are a crutch. But Winged Sprints are big down here. This will prove which is more competitive. We expect 40 cars. It shoud be a pass-a-rama.
Some of the names coming include Tommy Nichols, Dvae Pletcher, Gene Lasker, Darren Smith and Wayne Hammond.
Besides the Sprint Car Challenge, the Fastrucks Series will start its 2005 season with a 50-lap feature. The Fastrucks have been around for more than a decade. The truck counts are good and the racing tight. Jimmy Gill of Bradenton is the defending points champ.
The Fastkids portion of Fastrucks will have its own separate race. Last year, Mark Martins son, Matt, ran in the Fastkids series. Dlaton Zehr of Daytona is the defending points champ.
