Thursday, November 28, 2002 | | Brett Bodine to Appear at Hooters ProCup Championship Event at USA International | Fayetteville, Ga. - As the excitement builds for the season ending Four Champions Memorial Hooters 300 presented by Jennie-O Turkey Store this Saturday night at USA International Speedway, fans in attendance will have an opportunity to meet a Winston Cup Series veteran.
Brett Bodine, driver of the #11 Hooters Ford in the Winston Cup Series, will be in attendance to sign autographs and meet the fans. Bodine will also be assisting the winner of the Hooters Racing Challenge during a session Sunday morning of the Cale Yarborough Executive Racing School to be held at USA International Speedway.
Bodine signed a deal with Hooters of America in the spring of 2002 and carried the familiar Hooters colors for the remainder of the season. The Hooters Racing Challenge was featured on select broadcasts of USAR Hooters ProCup Series races on Speed Channel where Bodine asked a series of questions thta fans could answer online. Nearly 5,000 fans participated in the contest with the winner chosen from a drawing of contestants who answered all the questions correctly.
Gordon Baldwin was originally chosen as the contest winner, however, the Orange California resident recently had surgery on his hip and will not be able to particiapte. Baldwin contacted contest officials and requested a new winner be drawn to enjoy the full day at the driving experience on Sunday.
Coralie Ruffell from Danbury, CT was then drawn and will be flown to USA International Speedway for the weekend. In addition to winning one-on-one instruction from Bodine at the driving experience, she also won a prize package that included tickets to the season ending race for the Hooters ProCup Series.
"I am really excited about coming down to Lakeland this weekend," said Bodine. "This will be my first chance to see Hooters ProCup Series racing in person and meet some of the guys in the Series. I love watching some great short track racing and I look forward to meeting alot of the fans as well. It should be a fun time."
Bodine also looks forward to participating in the driving experience on Sunday morning. "I think the Hooters Racing Challenge was an awesome way to get fans actively involved in the ProCup Series and with Hooters," Bodine said. "This contest was a great way to educate new fans about Hooters and the Hooters ProCup Series. Getting to meet the fans up close and seeing everyone at Lakeland will be a great way to finish out the season."
