Pete Orr would have loved today knowing that all his friends and his family were all gathered together in celebration of his life. As family and friends joined in songs that touched the heart, Pete was smiling down on each of us.
Pete Orr was a great racecar driver, teacher, friend, husband, father, grandfather. He loved life and it showed thru his endless smile he had for each of us. If he could help someone, he would without any reservation. Pete was there for his friends and his family always.
Even in death, Pete was still teaching us to value each other and our surroundings. As the funeral procession slowly went thru the back streets of Pete's home town, the beauty he loved shown thru brillantly. The soft hills, the green trees, the warm inviting homes. Tears flowed but not tears of sadness but tears of joy for knowing this wonderful man.
Pete was laid to rest under a huge oak tree covered with Spanish Moss. Beside his casket was a photo of Pete and his #30 Late Model surrounded by flowers of every color. A celebration of Pete Orr and his life.
Pete was only 46 years old but in those short 46 years, he taught us much. He left us too quick but he made sure that we have memories of his smiling face, his unselfish giving, and his love for life. From his early days of racing to his last days of racing, Pete taught us that winning is not everything, it is how you win that counts.
Pete, always with a smile on his face, left us with a smile on his face that said it is okay, don't mourn for me. Pete is in the greatest pits of all, "Heaven's pits". And you can count on it, that there is one special guardian angel in heaven who will be working full time riding along side his family and friends.
Pete Orr will not be forgotten, he lives in Terri, Lisa, Bobby, Charlie, and Howard and each of us who loved him. As long as your heart remembers, you never die but live on forever.
God bless you Pete and thanks for giving all of us so much.
