Tim Chitwood with His Jet Truck Added to Motorsports X Games at Orlando SpeedWorld | by Dave Weserman
A full day of racing and fun is just one week away as the schedule has been set for the "Xtreme Halloween Race Clash" and the Motor Sports X Games next Saturday, November 2nd at Orlando SpeedWorld near Bithlo, FL.
The racing card will include the FASTRUCK Series, FASTSPRINTS, Classic Auto Racing Series, and the new FAST Super Bikes.
Track gates will open at 6AM for vendors and competitors with Grandstand gates and the midway opening at 9AM.
Practice will be held by division from 9AM until noon. Due to the large number of cars and bikes expected, heat race action has been moved up to start at lPM with all heats concluded by 5PM.
From 5-6PM, Halloween will be extended by two days with a special trick-or-treat and meet-and-greet in the infield. Kids are asked to wear their costumes and drivers/riders are asked to bring plenty of candy for the kids.
Feature race action (including any B-mains) will start at 6:30PM.
Along with the racing, there will be a full midway, live country and rock bands, a bad man contest, a karaoke contest plus a big car and bike show.
"Evasive Actions" a fantastic sport bike stunt team out of Tampa, will also be performing and just added to the program is Tim Chitwood of the legendary Chitwood Thrill Shows who will be doing some spectacular driving feats as well as burning up the track with his one-of-a-kind jet truck.
USAC star Dave Steele and East Bay Raceway/TBARA standout Sport Allen will lead a large contingent of the non-wing FASTSPRINTS. Big Daddy Dave Pletcher, Jimmy Alvis and many other top open-cockpit drives are expected by a host of drivers.
FASTRUCK point leader Todd Bontrager of Sarasota will be trying to wrap up the points title as the X-Games but will be challenged by a host of drivers including James Wright III, John Mitchell, Jimmy Gill and the veteran Paul Grynewicz who has many figure-eight race wins to his credit at Orlando SpeedWorld.
A large field of the Classic Cars are expected. DeLand's Joey Strehle has won the last two CARS races, one on dirt at Jacksonville and one earlier this month at SpeedWorld.
CARS point leader Jim Rahman, Ed Yates, Frank Conrad, Eddie Thornton, Hot Rod Hagan, and Bam Bam Sanders should provide plenty of competition though.
For the FAST Sport Bikes, this will be a new venture and the riders are very excited about doing something very different and it should provide for plenty of thrills, chills, and some bumps and bruises too.
Adult tickets are $25 for the entire day and the best thing is that all kids under 12 years of age get in free.
Orlando SpeedWorld is located 17 miles east of Downtown Orlando on State Road 50, just a quarter-mile west of the SR50/SR520 split or 13 miles west of the I-95 State Road 50 exit in Titusville.
