14th Annual Children's Home Fundraiser Announced | by Rick Bristol Orlando, Fla - Rick Bristol has announced that the 14th Annual event ot help the kids is planned for Sunday, NOvember 10th. That will be the night after the prestigious Florida Governor's Cup 200 for Sunbelt Super Late Models and the State Championship 100 for the Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series at New Smyrna Speedway on November 9th.
The event, which Bristol began 14 years ago while an official at Orlando SpeedWorld, has over the years been a fun event for many drivers and has raised over $42,000.00 for the kids at two area children's homes.
Bristol, a former child of one of the homes, has vowed to help the homes keep the doors open. The homes are non-government supported homes that help abused, abandoned and troubled kids get a better chance at life and at being loved.
Many great drivers over the years have taken part in this event, names like Rick Crawford, Billy Bigley, Jr., Buckshot Jones and Jody Ridley, Pete Orr, David Russell, B.J. McLeod, Wayne Jefferson and James Powell III have all been great supporters over the years.
Many local drivers from area tracks take part each year and are a huge part of the events success.
The event began at the Lil' 500 go-kart track in Maitland until insurance and ownership problems stopped the event but then the current location on HWY 192 in Kissimmee was found. Track Manager Jose has been a great help over the past 4 events that has enabled the event to continue.
Those who take part raise a minimum of $50.00 to race the track go-karts in heats and features and fun events throughout the day. Many drivers have raised large amounts and the top 5 each year are rewarded with prizes.
While the races are taking place, there is a moonwalk and mini-carnival games going on for the kids and a concession stand with great food. There may even be a dunk tank to dunk your favorite official or fellow driver. There are prizes galore given away on raffle tickets and a 50/50 pot too!!
There is more laughter than you can handle and you will be tired when the day is over, but is all for a great cause.
The event is at the Trans-America go-kart track at 5071 W. 192 in Kissimmee, FL just 3 miles east of I-4 and minutes from Disney. Rick is searching for drivers that will represent each of the Florida tracks to attend and all are welcome. If you would like to take part, please call Rick at 407-282-4705 or 407- 497-0447 cell for an info packet complete with direction, info, photo's and a sponsor sheet.
If you are a Super Late Model driver or Mini Stock driver planning to attend the event at New Smyrma Speedway, you can raise money and be recognized in pre-race activites that night. The driver that brings the most in those divisions those nights will be recognized and thanked by Rick himself in those same pre-race activites.
If you need a hotel please call Rick for the nearest hotel and a special price. "I hope drivers, fans, crews and family will come have a great time and help these homes be able to continue to help these kids" said Bristol. "I have already had many phone calls from new folks that have not been before and that is great, but we need as many as we can get" added Rick.
The event will be again November 10th from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m. and will benefit the Central Flordia and New Life Children's homes. For more information please call Rick Bristol today.
