Wayne Reutimann Sr. and Jr. Racing in USCS Event Friday, July 26 | The father and son racing duo of Wayne Reutimann and Wayne Reutimann Jr. from Zephyrhills, Florida, will meet for the first time in United Sprint Car Series (USCS) in competition this Friday night, July 26, at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, North Carolina.
Wayne Reutimann Jr. is the rookie points leader on the USCS "Asphalt Outlaw Thunder" winged sprint car tour so far in 2002. Wayne Jr. is also in second place in the USCS asphalt series points standings behind defending USCS national champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee.
USCS also runs on dirt surfaces and is the only winged outlaw sprint car series that runs both asphalt and dirt surfaces.
Wayne Reutimann Sr. is a veteran of over 35 years in open wheel racing and is a three time and defending champion with the Florida based TBARA winged asphalt sprint car series and he is in the chase for the title with that organization again this season.
This will be Wayne Reutimann Sr.'s first USCS event and he is looking forward to making the trip a success and to competing with his son.
Wayne Sr. has attended several of Wayne Jr.'s events with USCS but this will be the first time he and his car owner Don Heckman have made the trip up from the Sunshine State to test the waters of North Carolina.
Both drivers are among the favorites to end up in victory lane on Friday night when the series makes its first ever visit to the 4/10 mile oval on Race Track Rd. near Altamahaw, North Carolina.
Both drivers almost guarantee that the fans will see a new track record set by the 700 horsepower, 1300 pound exotic machines they wheel that will be several seconds lower than the present best time.
Both hope to be the one that sets the new track record and to take home the trophy, the money and family braggin' rights for the victory in the fast and furious 40 lap main event finale on Friday night.
