Triple Crown - Late Model State Championship Runs July 27 | The Fifth Annual SunCruz Casinos 200 Florida State Late Model Championship presented by 97 Country WPCV and Midas Jewelers will take on an added significance when the field rumbles to the green flag Saturday night July 27th.
The Late model event has been extended to a 200-lap chase to the checkers and the new gold and diamond championship ring designed and furnished by Midas Jewelers.
The distance of the Florida State Late Model Championship was increased to 200 laps to represent the importance and the stature of this race.
The additional 75 laps will bring a new element into the race – the pitstop. Previously these Sunbelt Super Late Model type cars ran 125 laps and there was no need to pit for fuel or tires.
"This will also make the State Championship race the longest race for these type cars at USA and require some additional strategy by the competitors, the mark of true champions,” says track President Bill Martino Jr.,
“We are also pleased to announce the addition of the Florida State Late Model Championship ring with this event. This will become a cherished prize to those who are able to attain victory in this race and in the years to come.”
Similar to the previous State Championship weekends the lineup of racing will include more than just the Sunbelt Super Late Model event.
The FASCAR Pro Modified Series will make an infrequent appearance with a 50-lap showdown and the FASTRUCK Series will be on hand for 35 laps of action.
The pace of Saturday’s activities quickens with an on-track autograph session beginning at 6:15 PM and the start of the 200 lap Florida State Late Model Championship at 7:30 PM.
Advance reserve seat tickets are on sale through the speedway office and will be available race day at the main ticket booth. Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on our Message Board! <news@karnac.org>or send a letter to the editor!
