Rahman Takes Big Classic Series Point Lead to Columbia Motorsports Park | by Dave Westerman
1998 Classic Auto Racing Champion Jim Rahman looks to be well on his way to a second championship as the Series heads to its first visit this year to the fast half-mile at Columbia Motorsports Park near Lake City.
With the season not yet half done, Rahman already has a 94-point lead over his nearest rival, Harvey Ewing of Brooksville, who is now second in points and leads a close battle in the Door Operating Systems Rookie of the Year standings as well.
Another rookie, Groveland's Keith Roberts, is tied with second year driver E.T. McGhee for third in points while yet another rookie, Patrick "Bam-Bam" Sanders, is now fifth in the point race. Just ten points seperate Ewing in second and Sanders in fifth.
The Classics visited CMP twice last year with Rahman and 2001 Champion Eddie Thornton claiming the wins.
